A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the Sweetwater Pentecostal Tabernacle in Moselle for Jimmie "JD" Graves, Sr., 73 of Seminary, who passed from this life at his residence on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at a time when LSU still reigned as National Champions.
Sr. Pastor Shannon Pullen, Pastor Channing Pullen, Brother Jeremy Sherrill, Brother Grant Pullen, and Brother Coby Graves will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Chaztin Jayke Ellzey Memorial Cemetery on Toxie Crosby Road in Seminary. Special music will be provided by Amanda Sherrill, Chanden Sherrill, Laken Sherrill, Kaden Sherrill, Kayla Pullen, Cayla Hickman, and Caylan Hickman. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2020 and will continue from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the Sweetwater Pentecostal Tabernacle, 7 Tom Rainey Road, Moselle, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Austin Ellzey, Drew Ellzey, Drey Ellzey, Forres Ellzey, Kevin Jarrell, and Chandler Pullen. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryce Graves, Phil Hickman, and Dalton Mellington.
Mr. Graves was born on March 24, 1947 in Magee, Mississippi. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Mr. Graves recently retired from Key Constructors as a foreman and instructor after twenty seven years of service. Since his retirement has kept busy handling the books for Ellzey Trucking. He attended Sweetwater Pentecostal Tabernacle in Moselle. Mr. Graves was a diehard LSU supporter. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and will be greatly missed by them
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Irene Walker Graves; and a grandson, Chaztin Jayke Ellzey.
Survivors include his sweetheart and wife of fifty-three years, Catherine Robertson Graves of Seminary; five children, Jimmie Dell "Beau" Graves Jr. , and his wife, Floy of Brandon, Cathy "Cissy" Ellzey, and her husband , Marlon of Seminary, Tina Ellzey, and her husband, Robert of Seminary, Melissa Pullen, and her husband, Shannon of Collins, and Amanda Sherrill, and her husband, Jeremy of Ironton, Ohio; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gene Graves, and his wife, Sandy of Lafayette. Louisiana and Willie Graves, and his wife, Jodie of Thibodaux, Louisiana; one sister, Deborah Britt, and her husband, Randy of Byram; and a host of nieces and nephews.
