Joel Alan “Joey” Dossett

(May 29, 1969 – July 27, 2026)

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Seminary Cemetery in Seminary, Mississippi, for Joel Alan “Joey” Dossett, 57 of Pensacola, Florida, who passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at his residence.

Brother Glenn Shoemake and Mr. Stogey Dykes will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Seminary Cemetery. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Joel Alan “Joey” Dossett was born on May 29, 1969, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to Gwenzil and Ina Dearman Dossett of Seminary. He was affectionally known as “Joey” to his family and friends. Joey was a graduate of Seminary High School Class of 1987, where he was an outstanding member of the Seminary Bulldogs football team. On summer breaks and weekends, he enjoyed swimming at the Seminary Falls or floating the Okatoma River with his friends. After high school, Joey worked along the side of his father at Dossett Motors in Prentiss, Mississippi and later in life, he worked as a boiler maker in the construction of oil storage tanks. He was a loving son, husband, stepfather, brother, and uncle, and will always be remembered for his kindness to others and his love for his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his stepson, Brandon Kittrell; his sister, Katrina Dossett Wells; his mother-in-law, Zorada Gothard; his maternal grandparents, Pleas and Tressie Thrash Dearman; and his paternal grandparents, Donald and Lena Davis Dossett.

Survivors include his wife of ten years, Michelle Gothard Dossett; his parents, Gwenzil and Ina Dearman Dossett; one brother, Timmy Dossett, and his wife, Carla; one sister, Jessica Dobbins; a stepson, Eric Kittrell; a stepdaughter, Hope Sullivan; three nieces, Megan Wells Leggett, Lakin Wells Hall, and Courtney Dossett; one nephew, Timothy “Tee” Dossett, II; and a host of other family members and friends.
