Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for John Everett Byrd, 84 of Seminary, who went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 29, 2018 at his residence.
Reverend Brian Dickens will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Bullock Cemetery in Seminary. Special music will be provided by Reverend Brian Dickens. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.
Pallbearers will be Frank Craft, Roy Phillips, Anthony Byrd, Jack Moss, Steve Sanford, and Tommy Byrd.
John, a Covington County native, was born on December 15, 1933. He worked hard all of his life for his family. Through the years, he has hauled paperwood, built bridges, and was a shop mechanic. John always kept a big garden and loved to tinker in his shop at home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Edmond Byrd and Mavis Mooney Byrd ; an infant sibling, one brother, Griss Byrd; and one sister: Hazel Byrd Craft.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Almedieth McRaney Byrd of Seminary; two daughters, Diane Boleware and Helen Emmons, both of Seminary; two sons, Donald Byrd and Wayne Byrd, and his wife, Beverly, all of Seminary; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Palmer Byrd, Jessie Byrd, and Martin Byrd, all of Seminary; four sisters, Retha Mae Phillips of Moselle, Willene Sanford, Shirley Beasley, and Iona Moss, all of Seminary; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
