Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Cooley Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Mount Olive for John David Ponder, Jr., 39 of Collins, who passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.

Reverend Dennis Campbell will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Cooley Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Mount Olive. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Donna Campbell. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be David Ponder, Hunter Mitchell, Jackson Crosby, Jake Lamar, Frank Hall, Dewayne Ponder, and Milton Pegram.

Mr. Ponder was born on June 25, 1978 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was a loving son and father. Mr. Ponder worked as a lineman for the Power Industry for numerous years. He was a Christian, and was a member of both the Pentecostal and the Baptist faiths at different times in his life.

He was preceded in death by his one sister, Elissa Mae Ponder; and two brothers, Steven Nicholas Ponder and James Keath Ponder.

Survivors include two sons, Logan Reese Ponder and Nicholas Gage Ponder, both of Spring, Texas; his mother and step father, Lois Ann Maddox Mailet and Normand Mailet of Collins; his father and step mother, John David Ponder, Sr. and Ginny Ponder of Humble, Texas; three sisters, Jessica Ann Lamar of Heidelberg, Samantha Ponder Erwin and Melissa Ponder Mitchell, both of Humble, Texas; two brothers, Matthew Allen Webster of Houston, Texas, and David Keath Ponder of Mount Olive; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
