Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the Leaf River Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins for Julius Harold Quick, 84 of Houston, Texas, who passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 at his residence.
Interment will be in the Leaf River Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Kacey Workman, Caleb Bryant, Bobby McDonald, Mitchell Whatley, Donald Schwarz, Jake Duckworth, Jenson Duckworth, Mark Hayes, and Jay Magee.
Julius was born on Thursday, September 17, 1936 in Covington County, Mississippi to James Alexander Quick and Josie Carr Quick. He was a graduate of Salem School Class of 1955. Julius continued his education by earning an Associate of Arts Degree from Jones County Junior College, and receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Mississippi Southern College. He was a lifetime member of the Jones County Junior College Alumni Association. He worked for Exxon Company, U.S.A. (Humble Oil and Refining Company) as an accountant for over thirty-three years before his retirement in 1992. Julius proudly served his country in the United States Army. During his tour of duty, he received the Army Commendation Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Julius was a member of the Westbury Baptist Church in Houston. He served as the Director of the Sunday school department for ten years, and also taught The Pardoned Bible Study class. Julius was a wonderful man. He was very godly and had a strong faith. Julius was treasurer for the Brays Bayou Exxon-Mobil Retiree Club and a volunteer for numerous years with Meals on Wheels program.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Alexander Quick and Josie Carr Quick; one sister, Eunice Wynonia Quick McQueen; and three brothers, Hubert Lamar "Sam" Quick, Jimmie "Crow" Quick, and D.C. "Buddy" Quick.
Survivors include one nephew, Jamie Quick of Collins; two nieces, Josephine Wade of Collins and Faye Pridgen of Seminary; and a host of great nieces and great nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Leaf River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o of Mark Rogers, 531 Station Creek Church Road, Collins, Mississippi, 39428.
