Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 07, 2024 at 11:00 am at Mount Olive Methodist Church in Mount Olive, Mississippi, for June Carol Sullivan who passed away at her residence on Saturday, March 2, 2024 in Mount Olive, MS.
Reverend Jerry Beam and Reverend Dennis Lewellyn will officiate at the services with internment to follow in the Mount Olive Cemetery in Mount Olive, MS. Special music will be performed by Debbie Johnston. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mount Olive is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Mount Olive Methodist Church in 211 South Main Street, Mount Olive, Mississippi.
Ms Sullivan was born in Mount Olive to Homer E Sullivan, Sr and Carrie Lee Sullivan of Mt. Olive on June 6, 1932. She graduated from Mount Olive High School in 1951. She then earned a degree in education, with an emphasis in music, from The University of Southern Mississippi. She devoted her career to teaching music and piano at several elementary schools across Mississippi, with her longest tenure being in Gulfport, MS, where she retired after more than 30 years. She was an accomplished pianist, serving several churches over the years. As a member of Mt. Olive Methodist Church, Ms Sullivan was a dedicated teacher of the Bible, further devoting her life to her faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Homer Sullivan Sr.and Carrie Lee Sullivan and her elder brother Thomas Lee Sullivan.
She is survived by her younger brother, Homer Elton Sullivan Jr. and his wife Billie Warren Sullivan of Hattiesburg. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Lee Sullivan (Pamela) of Brooklyn MS; Angela Sullivan Kilcrease of Long Beach MS; Becky Sullivan (Dave) of Flower Mound TX; Richard Sullivan (Robin) of Hattiesburg; Joseph Warren Sullivan (Erin) of Fairhope AL; and great-nieces Carrie Elizabeth Sullivan of Fairhope AL; Allison McClendon (Dalton) of Brooklyn, MS; and Natalie Sullivan of Hattiesburg. She was made a great-great Aunt to Sadie and Kenzie McClendon of Brooklyn.
Pallbearers will be Joe Sullivan, Lee Sullivan, Richard Sullivan, and Dalton McLendon.Honorary pallbearers will be David Arballo.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Francis Hall and Mary Barnes, of who were devoted caretakers and friends in Ms Sullivan's later years. Also a special thanks is extended to her special friends Reverend Jerry Beam and Judy Leonard for their invaluable assistance in funeral preparation to honor Ms Sullivan.
