Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the Seminary Baptist Church in Seminary for Katelyn Marie Baker, 23 of Seminary, who passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 in Poplarville, from injuries substained in an automobile accident.
Brother Billy Reyer and Brother Steve Ellis will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Atwood Cemetery in Seminary. Special music will be provided by Mrs Susan Deen. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022, at the Seminary Baptist Church, 220 E. Main Street, Seminary, Mississippi, and from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, August 6, 2022, also at the church.
Pallbearers will be Jacques P. Pucheu, Jacques H. Pucheu, Jacob Pucheu, Tim Baker, Trevor Baker, Luke McKenzie, and Brandon Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be 2017-2018 MGCCC Girls Softball Team Members, Landon Burge, and Charlie Burge.
Katelyn was born on August 11, 1998 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was a graduate of the Seminary High School Class of 2016 and the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Class of 2018 with an Associate of Arts degree. She was a member of the Girls Softball Team while at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Katelyn furthered her education at Pearl River Community College where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. She was currently employed as a registered nurse at the Louisiana Children's Medical Center in New Orleans, and also did some travel nursing.
Katelyn was a very sweet and out-going person. She was an excellent nurse and caring for her patients at work. She touched the lives of many people through out her life. Katelyn enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her little boy. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bryan Hunter Atwood; and her maternal grandfather, Jack Hurkes.
Survivors include her parents, Catherine Hurkes Atwood and her husband, Bryan Atwood, and Tony Baker, and his fiancée, Marquessa Taylor of Petal; her fiancé, Jacques Pucheu, Sr. of Gulfport; one son, Jacques Pucheu, Jr. of Gulfport; two sisters, Samantha Baker and Brianna Atwood, both of Seminary; two nephews, Bryan Decuir and Hunter Decuir, both of Seminary; her grandparents, Hershel and Sue Atwood of Seminary, Guy and Betty Aycock of Lumberton, and Marsha Hurkes of South Carolina; and a host of aunt, uncles, and cousins.
