Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Billy M. King Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Katherine "Elaine" Gentry, 84 of Mt. Olive, who passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Silver Cross Health & Rehab in Brookhaven, MS.
Brother Jon Neal and Brother Zack Polk will officiate the services with interment to follow in the New Liberty Landmark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Olive, MS. Special music will be provided by Tony Waits. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 202,4 at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins. The family would like to thank the staff at Silver Cross Health & Rehab and Arden Hospice for the love and care given to her.
The pallbearers will be her grandsons, Nick Daley, Will Briscoe, Wes Briscoe, Steven Day, Jacob Finley, and Taylor Daughdrill. Honorary pallbearers will be Knox Daley and Beckett Briscoe.
Katherine Elaine Gentry was born to the late Ollie and Lois Sanford in Hot Coffee, MS on July 27, 1939. She was immersed in the Christian Community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. Elaine was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her high school sweetheart Charlie Albert Gentry on November 9, 1958, in Mt. Olive, MS. The love they had for one another was unconditional. Together they had three daughters.
Elaine retired from the Covington County School District where she was a school secretary. She was kind and softly spoken. She loved to crochet, spend time with her family, cook big meals, travel to watch their grandchildren play sports and garden. She was a loving wife, a caring mother, a Granny, and a Gigi.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Charlie Gentry, her parents Ollie and Lois Sanford, sisters Pauline Rivers (Berlin), Betty Stubbs (Hugh), and one brother, infant baby boy and son in law, Kyle Briscoe.
Elaine is survived by her three daughters, Shelia Gentry (Robert Chachere) of Metairie, Louisiana, Tammy Briscoe of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, Hope Daley (Larry) of Carson, Mississippi. Her sister Jerry Sue Jones (Henry) of Collins, MS. Five grandchildren, Nick Daley (Brooke), Megan Day (Steven), Will Briscoe (Emily), Wes Briscoe (Sarah) and Natalie Finley (Jacob). Her eight great-grandchildren, Taylor Daughdrill, Beckett Briscoe, Swayze Daley, Knox Daley, Olivia Day, Camdyn Briscoe, Annie Parker Finley, Charlotte Briscoe and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
