Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Ora Baptist Church in Collins for Kenneth Ray McRaney, 89 of Collins, who passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at his residence..
Reverend Emory May and Reverend Rudolph Sims will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Ora Cemetery in Collins with military rites at graveside. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Jackie McRaney, Mr. Ledrew Smith, and Mrs. Mary Ann Shoemake. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023, and from 9:30 am until 10:30 am on Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Hwy 49, Collins, Mississippi.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be his family members and friends..
Mr. McRaney was born on February 11, 1934 in Bassfield, Mississippi to Ray and Lois Ford McRaney. He graduated from Bassfield High School in 1955. Mr. McRaney proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Fontaine, Inc. after forty years of service in the shipping and receiving department. After his retirement from there, he was employed for fifteen years as a security guard at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins where he enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with his fellow veterans. Mr. McRaney was a member of the Ora Baptist Church. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Kirkley McRaney; one daughter, April McRaney; his parents, Ray and Lois Ford McRaney; a son-in-law, Tim Brown; one grandson, Scott Sullivan; five brothers, Bill McRaney, Tobe McRaney, Harry McRaney, Thomas McRaney and Jerry McRaney; and two sisters, Betty Lou McRaney Calhoun, and Sarah McRaney Kirkley.
Survivors include his daughters, Cindy McRaney Sullivan (Frank) and Marcy McRaney Brown, all of Collins; one sister, Nell McRaney Tavlin (Bob) of Madison; six grandchildren, Heath Slade (Laine), Whitney Slade Graves (Matt), Olivia Brown, Tab Brown (Aleesha), Dustin Sullivan, and Logan Sullivan (Jessica); thirteen great-grandchildren, Cagle Pitts, Josie Cluff, Ivy Brown, Emily Graves, Nate Graves, Lake Graves, Gamble Sullivan, Wesley Sullivan, Waylon Sullivan, Daphne Sullivan, Sophie Sullivan, Issabella Sullivan and Caroline Sullivan; three sisters-in-law, Jean Sessions, Teresa McRaney, and Jackie McRaney; and a host of nieces and nephews.
