Kevin Bert Harper

(December 11, 1968 – June 21, 2023)

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Calhoun Baptist Church in Collins for Kevin Bert Harper, 54, of Collins, who passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, in Collins, Mississippi.

Brother Dave Moran will officiate the services with interment to follow in the Calhoun Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Calhoun Baptist Church, 40 Calhoun Church Road, Collins, Mississippi.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Harper, Koedy Harper, David Harper, Justin Harper, Alden Blakeney, Lance Martin, and G.W. "Huck" Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Harper, Abby Harper, Eric Harper, Eli Harper, Sam Harper, Eric Harper, Charlie Herring, Austyn Blakeney, Abram Blakeney, Ayden Blakeney, Asher Blakeney, Bryce Odom, Jaelyn Leitaker, and Amzie Blakeney.

Kevin was born on December 11, 1968, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Herbert and Judy Harper. He graduated from Mount Olive High School, where he played tight end on the football team. He also graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi, where he was a member of the rugby club and earned a bachelor's degree in sales and marketing management. His professional career spanned multiple executive and management positions in the field of telecommunications, and he was most recently self-employed.

Kevin had a sincere heart for animals, especially his dogs. He enjoyed the outdoors—hunting, golfing, and was a certified scuba diver. The simplest pleasures brought Kevin enjoyment, and he recently found spiritual growth in James 1:19-20. Kevin's heart always was centered on his family. He deeply loved his two sons and found joy in spending time with his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Harper and Judy Knight Harper.

Survivors include his sons, Koedy Harper (Danielle) of Memphis, Tennessee, and Tyler Harper (Shai) of Laurel, Mississippi; brothers, David Harper (Kim) of Taylorsville, Mississippi, and Eric Harper (Pam) of Pearl, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
