Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Larry Kendal Roberts, 83 of Seminary, who passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at his residence.
Reverend Rocky Holston will officiate at the services with military rites at graveside. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Sharolyn Sullivan Magee and Mr. Jeremy Johnson. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Homein Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home
Pallbearers will be Archie L. Mooney, Timothy Herrin, Billy Harrell, Reed Abercrombie, Doyle Gandy, and Danny Wade.
Mr. Roberts was born on July 9, 1934 in Bucyrus, Kansas. He retired from Hirschbach Motor Lines, Inc. after thirty years of service as a truck driver. He received recognition for driving a million miles without incident two times during his career. Mr. Roberts proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Methodist faith, and attended the Willow Grove Baptist Church in Collins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Olin Roberts and Vera E. Pfaffle Roberts; his in-laws, C.W. and Ruby Lowery Wade; and a brother-in-law, James B. Mooney.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-five years, Bertha Mooney Roberts of Seminary; two step-sons, Jonathan Stell of Seminary, and Allan Sumrall, and his wife, Gina of Saucier; one sister, Gaylene Nielson and her husband, Terry of Aurora, Colorado; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two nephews; and a host of other family members.
The family wishes to extend their love and appreciation for the excellent care provided to Larry to Dr. Jason Beasley, Dr. Mark Campbell, Dr. Bo Hrum, and the staff of Amedisys Home Health of Collins.
