Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Am on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at the Collins Methodist Church in Collins for Larry Marvin Robinson, 82 of Collins, who passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at the The Blake At Township in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
Reverend Timothy Beard will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins with military rites at graveside. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Anne Kay Rogers. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at the Collins Methodist Church, 206 S. 2nd Street, Collins, MS 39428
The pallbearers will be Luke Harris Robinson, James Henry Robinson, David King, Mark Fletcher, Bill Dinkins, and Larry Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers will be Seth Foy, Ollie Robinson, and Sam Robinson.
Larry M. Robinson was born in Canton, Mississippi on May 5th, 1942, Larry was the cherished son of Velton and Priscilla Harris Robinson who already had one child, Larry's older sister Joanne Robinson Billingslea.
Larry's journey through life was marked by a deep commitment to service and education. He graduated from Canton High School before bravely serving his country in the Marine Corps, for two tours, during the tumultuous years of the Vietnam War in the mid-1960s. His dedication and bravery during his service earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.
After his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Larry pursued higher education at Ole Miss, where he earned a master's degree in biology. It was during this time at Ole Miss that he met the love of his life, Patty Robinson. Larry and Patty were united in marriage in March of 1969 in Oxford, MS, embarking on a partnership that would span over five decades.
Larry's legacy extends beyond his academic and military achievements. He was a devoted father to his two sons, Luke Robinson of Brandon, MS and Matthew Robinson of Collins, MS, whom he cherished and supported throughout their lives. Larry's love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his kindness and generosity touched the lives of many.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Patty King Robinson of Collins; one daughter, Laurie Robinson Dinkins (Bill) of Canton; two sons, Luke Robinson (Lara) of Brandon, and Matthew Robinson (Amber) of Collins; seven grandchildren who very lovingly called him Pop, Rebecca Dinkins, Luke Harris Robinson II, James Henry Robinson, Lucy Robinson, Ollie Robinson, Addeline Robinson, and Sam Robinson; one great-grandson, Axton Hamilton; and a host of other family members and friends.
Pop, may you rest in peace, knowing that your life made an indelible impact on everyone fortunate enough to have crossed your path. Your memory will forever live on in our hearts.
