Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Union South Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary for Lauretta Dodds Segars, 97 of Seminary, who went to her heavenly home on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at her daughter's residence.
Brother Mike Davis and Brother Danny Forrest will officiate at the services with interment to following in the Union South Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary. Special music will be provided by Brother Mike Davis and Brother Danny Forrest. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collin will be in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Segars was born on January 18, 1925 in Fayette, Alabama to Roy and Mildred Graham Dodds. She married Charles B. Segars and moved to Hattiesburg after her husband returned from World Warr II. Mrs. Segars attended Mississippi Southern College where she was dorm mother to the East Stadium, The Original Rock. She taught at Sacred Heart Schools, and the Dixie community schools in Hattiesburg. Mrs. Segars later taught at the Jackson County Elementary School in Pascagoula for twenty-eight years until her retirement. She moved to Seminary after she lost her home during Hurricane Katrina. Mrs. Segars was a member of the Methodist faith but attended Grace Outreach Church in Seminary with her daughter's family. Her sarcastic wit and humor will be greatly missed by all that loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mildred Grahams Dodds; two special aunts, Euline Randolph and Bess G. Cook; and her grandson, Mark E. Craft.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Earl Craft of Seminary; one granddaughter, Kristi Craft Duncan of Pearl; five great-grandsons, Bryce Craft, Levi Craft, Aidan Duncan, Jackson Duncan, and Kolin Duncan.
