Lela Voncille Lovette Walters
(March 16, 1934 – December 3, 2022)
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. for Mrs. Lela Voncille Lovette Walters, 88, of Collins, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins, Mississippi. Mrs. Walters passed away at Bedford Alzheimer's Center in Hattiesburg.
Bro. Gary Bridges and Bro. Ken Walters will officiate the services with interment to follow in the Smyrna Landmark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary. Special Music will be provided by Tessa and Michael Roberts. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Rankin, Andrew Rankin, Michael Roberts, Brandon Denham, Jeremy Baughman and John Moore.
Mrs. Walters was born on March 16, 1934, in Lucedale, Mississippi. She was a graduate of Sanford High School and lived the majority of her life in Covington County. She was a homemaker and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful member of Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting with other ladies in the community and generously gave her quilts to family members. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Jackson (Cleve) Lovette and Elma Bullock Lovette; her husband, Heyward Walters; one brother, Frank Lovette; one sister, Faye Baughman; one sister-in-Law, Carolyn Lovette; two brothers-in-law, O.C Hardin and Charles Gates; and four nephews, Heath Hardin, Kimble Baughman, Johnny Baughman, and James Lovette.
She is survived by three daughters Carol Rankin (David) of Seminary, Mississippi, Gail Humphreys (John) of Commerce, Texas, and Deanna Atwood (Carroll) of Seminary; two sisters, Lavine Hardin of Birmingham, Alabama and Ella Wease Gates of Petal, Mississippi; one brother, Pat Lovette (Betty) of Seminary; five grandchildren, Ashley Ward (David) of Austin, Texas, Tessa Roberts (Michael) of Collins, Daniel Rankin (April) of Collins, Andrew Rankin of Austin, Texas, and Toby Denham (Brandon) of Sumrall; eight great grandchildren; and many other extended family members and friends.
