Leo Smith
(March 8, 1938 – December 12, 2024)
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Billy M. King Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Leo Smith, 86 of Collins, who passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Brother Brooks Porter and Brother Richard Green will officiate at the services with the interment to follow in the Mount Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins, Mississippi. Billy M. King Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Family will receive guests from 10:00 am till 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the Billy M. King Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Russell Callender, Mackie Mayfield, Jeff Kelly, Darrell Perkins, Charles Langford, Larry Bullock, and Lane Sanford.
Leo was married to the love of his life Kay, for forty seven years. He retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years of faithful and honorable service. Leo continued his working career with the National Parks Gulf Island National Seashore in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, where he worked and retired after twenty years and then worked with the Mississippi Fish and Wildlife at Lake Mike Conner for six years. In his spare time he loved to do wood working and fishing which helped him relax. He loved to tell jokes and always had a sense of humor. He was loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest Smith and Mamie Dell Callender Smith; four brothers, David Smith, Roger Smith, Carl Andrew Smith and Dale Smith and two sisters, Mercedes Smith Dunaway and Viola Rae Smith Reeves.
Survivors include his wife of forty seven years, Johnnie "Kay" Bates Smith of Collins and one sister, Janice Falvey.
