Leon Hollingsworth

(July 13, 1938 – July 15, 2022)

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Olive for Leon Hollingsworth, 84, of Mt. Olive, who passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, MS.

Rev. Bryson Haden, Rev. Michael Miller, and Rev. Roger Wood Speed will officiate the services with interment to follow in the McNair Cemetery in Mt. Olive. Special music will be provided by Sandra Sullivan and Teresa Windham. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2022, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 795 Highway 532, Mt. Olive, MS 39119.

Pallbearers will be Joel McRaney, Darrin Rosado, Bryan Russell, Jeff Eubanks, Paul Ellis, and Joe Radcliff. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Graham, Gary Cook, and the Okatoma Cruisers.

Mr. Hollingsworth was a longtime member of the Okatoma Cruisers. As a member of the board of the Veterans Outreach, he volunteered and provided services to veterans for many years. He was dedicated to everything he did, including his career of over 50 years with Blain Companies in Mt. Olive. For 35 years, he enjoyed spending his time farming and raising cattle. After retirement, he and Mrs. Juanell enjoyed many exciting trips and adventures while spending time together. Whatever he did, he gave it his all. His dedication was the epitome of giving 110%.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alton Hollingsworth; mother, Minnie Mae Harvey Hollingsworth; and a brother, Walter Lee Hollingsworth.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Juanell Touchstone Hollingsworth of Mount Olive, MS; son, Kevin Hollingsworth (Wendy) of Ocean Springs, MS; daughter, Kandis Rodgers (Jason) of West Memphis, AR; grandchildren, Kristopher Russell (Kristen) of Petal, MS, Gunnar McBeth of West Memphis, AR, Kelsey Hollingsworth of Ocean Springs, MS and Jenna Hollingsworth of Ocean Springs, MS; and a great grandson, Reed Russell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
