Linda Gayle Elmore
(November 02, 1940 - February 24, 2024)
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 28, 2024at the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive for Linda Gayle Elmore, 83 of Mount Olive who passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS.
Dr. Bob Phillips and Dr. Brian Malone will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Mount Olive City Cemetery. Special music will be provided by Margaret Carr, Brian and Madelyn Malone.  Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mount Olive will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mount Olive, 205 South Fourth Street, Mount Olive, MS.
Pallbearers will be Justin Aldridge, Caleb Sullivan, Luke Jones, Blane Jones, Chandler Sullivan, and Cameron Sullivan.
Gayle was born on November 02, 1940 in Haskell, Texas to Walter Adams, Sr. and Lorene Hayes Adams. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. Gayle was very active in her church. If the door of the church was open, you could find her there. She taught Sunday School and was a G.A Leader for many years and loved singing in the church choir. She enjoyed serving her church on mission trips to Central America and Mexico. Gayle also served as a Cub Master for Mt. Olive Pack 7 for many years. She was a Casa Court worker for five years, had a daycare in her home for ten years, and was an assistant teacher at Mt. Olive Elementary for several years until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Joe Elmore;  two sons, Steve Elmore and Travis Elmore;  parents,  Walter Adams, Sr. and Lorene Hayes Adams; one brother W.J. "Sonny" Adams and two sisters; Marie Adams Willson and  Ina Mae Adams Altum;  two grandsons, Shawn Sullivan and Matthew Sullivan.
Survivors include her four daughters, Debbie Elmore Jones (Brad) of Hattiesburg, Robin Elmore Sullivan of Mount Olive, Linda Elmore Sullivan (John) of Moselle, and Jodi Elmore Sullivan (Robert) of Mount Olive; one brother, Howard Adams and one sister, Louise Adams Hook (Lacy) both of Abilene, TX;  five grandsons, Justin Aldridge (Tiffany) of Mendenhall, Shane Sullivan of Mount Olive, Caleb Sullivan (Kayla) of Sumrall, Luke Jones and Blane Jones both of Magee; eight granddaughters, Brittany Jones Bond (Chris) of Purvis, Traci Sullivan Malone (Brian) of Goss, Samantha Sullivan Stockstill (Sean) of Petal, Katie Jones of Mount Olive, Abby Elmore of Mount Olive, Stephanie Elmore Hammons (Jeremy) of Little Rock, AR, Jennifer Elmore Feeny (Chris) of Van Buren, AR and Ashley Elmore Kover (Zack) of Hattiesburg; one daughter-in-law, Debi Doughty Elmore of Mount Olive, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
