Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Lois Rutland, 79, of Collins, formerly of Ridgeland, who passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023, at her residence.
Rev. Brooks Porter and Mr. Larry Rutland will officiate the services with interment to follow at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023, in the Parkway Memorial Cemetery, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, Mississippi, 39157. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Hwy 49, Collins, Mississippi.
Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Rutland was born on September 14, 1943, in Sumrall, Mississippi, to Clyde and Willie Mae Aultman. She graduated from Sumrall High School in the class of 1962. A member of the Baptist Faith, she attended Mount Horeb Baptist Church with her family. She is lovingly remembered as a dedicated wife, sister, aunt, and friend, and she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Don Winston Rutland; parents, Clyde and Willie Mae Fortenberry Aultman; brothers, James and Gerald Aultman; sister, Betty Sue Aultman Brock (Sidney); and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Aultman.
Survivors include her sister, Janell Aultman Langford (Charles) of Seminary; brothers-in-law, James F. Rutland of Biloxi, MS and Larry Rutland (Judy) of Cumming, GA; sisters-in-law, Billie Rutland Spight of Greenville, MS, and Shelby Rutland Williamson (Butch) of Biloxi, MS; twenty-two nieces and nephews; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org or 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
