Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Salem Baptist Church in Collins for Lynwood Williams, Jr., 84 of Collins, who passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Arrington Living Center in Collins.
Reverend Dennis Campbell will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Heather Duke Wilson and Mrs. Donna Campbell. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Salem Baptist Church, 338 Salem Church Road, Collins, MS.
Pallbearers will be Wilford Speed Jr., Michael Taormina, Tyler Taormina, Lee Taormina, Zay Speed, Greg Collins, Robert Evans, and Wallace Pritchett. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Salem Baptist Church.
Mr. Williams was born on December 4, 1939, in Carthage, Mississippi to Lynwood Williams Sr., and Helen McClure Williams. He graduated from the Collins High School Class of 1958. Mr. Williams retired from Covington County Farm Bureau Insurance after thirty-plus years of service as an agent. He was a member and deacon at Salem Baptist Church in Collins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynwood Williams, Sr. and Helen McClure Williams; one sister, Frances Williams Speed; and three brothers, John Wayne "Johnny" Williams, Ross Williams, and Richard H. "Ricky" Williams.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Esther Helen Keys Williams of Collins; one son, Lynwood Williams, III, and his wife, Janet of Collins; one daughter, Terry Williams Lightsey, and her husband, Darrell of Collins; five grandchildren, Chase Neal Williams (M.J.), Cory Lane Williams (Caroline), Kaci Lightsey Trigg (Marshall), Kelli Lightsey Logan (Kyle), and Blake Lightsey (Victoria); six great-grandchildren, Tucker Trigg, Walker Trigg, Westyn Trigg, Jack Benton Lightsey Lepard, Callyn Logan, and Hadley Jewel Logan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
