Obituary

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Dr. Marcel Remson of Tylertown and Hattiesburg. Dr. Remson received his wings into Heaven on Sunday evening, October 7, 2018 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins, Mississippi.

Father Tommy Conway will nofficiate at the services with interment to follow in the Catholic section of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church Cemetery in Collins.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of then arrangements.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.

​Dr. Remson, a native of New Orleans, LA, was a parishioner of St. Fabian Catholic Church in Hattiesburg, MS. He graduated from Jesuit High School in 1953 and Loyola University School of Dentistry in 1961. He proudly served his country in the US Navy.   He practiced dentistry in New Orleans and Houma, Louisiana until his retirement. Marcel loved his God, his family, and the outdoors. He used his talented hands to carve decoys as a hobby and was an avid fisherman.

​He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcel and Josephine Remson of New Orleans, and his first wife, Lillian Remson, the mother of his children.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Billie Cole Remson, one daughter; Jo Remson of Bentonville, AR, two sons; Paul Remson, (Maria) of Houston, TX, and Drew Remson, (Tricia) of New Orleans, LA.  Three grandchildren, Lilly Remson and Emily Remson Delgado (Alex), both of New Orleans, and Sophia Remson of Houston, TX, and 3 great-grandchildren. Two step-children, Sonya Coley (Jerry) of Birmingham, AL and Kandace Crawford, (Kevin) of Clinton, MS, 5 step-grandchildren; Alex Hunt, Graham Coley and Madison Coley of Birmingham, AL and Austin Crawford and Katie Crawford of Clinton, MS.  Additional survivors are brother, Donald Remson, Baton Rouge, LA; Sister Jane Remson, New Orleans, LA; and Margaret Remson Storey, Otis, MA.

​The family wishes to give special thanks to the nurses of Southern Care Hospice and the staff of the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins, MS for their compassionate care of Marcel during the past year and a half.   Memorials can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 50 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Veterans Outreach, 15 Pritchett Dr., Collins, MS 39428.
