A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Hattiesburg for Margaret Anne Thomas, 24, of Hattiesburg, who passed from this life to a safer, happier place on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at her residence.
Father Tommy Conway and Father Godfrey Andoh will officiate at the service. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Collins City Cemetery in Collins. Music will be provided by Wilbur and Christina Moreland. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Sam Thomas, Blake Thomas, Edgar Maier, Fred Maier, Chris Johnson, Paul Thomas, Daniel Thomas, John Blackwell, Hoppe Allred, and Mickey Ingles.
Miss Thomas was born on February 28, 1991 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She graduated from the Sacred Heart Catholic School in 2009 serving as salutatorian for her class. She attended Millsaps College in Jackson where she majored in Chemistry and Music. Margaret was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Margaret had a love for nature including her many special pets and plants. She had a passion for the arts and music. She touched so many people in all walks of life, and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Dr. Findlay George Maier; and her paternal grandfather, William O. "Billy" Thomas, Jr.
Survivors include her parents, Dr. William O. "Trey" Thomas, III, and Dr. Catherine Maier Thomas of Hattiesburg; two sisters, Dr. Marie Louise Thomas of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Lillian Christine Thomas of Hattiesburg; three brothers, William O. "Will" Thomas, IV, Daniel George Thomas, and Paul Starnes Thomas, all of Hattiesburg; her maternal grandmother, Dr. Alice Hull Maier of Pascagoula; her paternal grandmother, Lillian Starnes Thomas of Collins; her Guardian Angel, Chris Johnson of Hattiesburg; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, all that were very involved in her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Southern Pines Animal Shelter, 1901 North 31st Avenue, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 39401, or the church of your choice.
