Margarette Jane Trigg Herrin
(July 10, 1926 – January 12, 2025)


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the New Hope Baptist Church in Sumrall for Margarette Jane Herrin, 98 of Seminary, who passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at her daughter's residence in Sumrall, Mississippi.
Reverend Mike Lee, Reverend Jeff Morris, and Reverend Rocky Holston will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Sumrall. Special music will be provided by Jeffery Coulter, Bob Thames, and Steven Sanford. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Family will receive guests from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the New Hope Baptist Church, 584 Highway 589 in Sumrall, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Herrin, Gavin Herrin, Steven Sanford, Lee Sanford, Chris Cothern, Don Mitchell, and Brian Diedrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Knight Jr., Alex Herrin, Shan Cothern, Drake Diedrick, Drew Diedrick, Jared Clark, and Steven Sanford III.
Margarette was married to her husband Sam, for fifty eight years at the time of his death. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church  when it was destroyed in 1945 on Christmas Day. She helped to raise money to rebuild the church. She was the teacher of the "Mollie Bethea Sunday School Class" and a member of the W.M.U. She enjoyed working in her flowerbeds, gardening, cooking for her family, quilting, and spending time with her family. Margarette was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her and she will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Herrin; parents, George Bert Trigg and Mary Rawls Trigg; four brothers, Albert Trigg, Curtis Trigg, Mutt Trigg and Rupp Trigg; one sister, Addie Trigg Joubert; one grandson, Doug Knight and one son-in-law, David Middleton.
Survivors include her son, Sammy Herrin (Willene) of Seminary; three daughters, Mary Agnes Herrin Middleton of Terry, Marie Herrin Knight (Jimmy) of Seminary and Betty Jane Herrin Stephens (Cotton) of Sumrall, nine grandchildren, Traci Middleton Cothern (Chris) of Terry, Angela Middleton Diedrick (Brian) of Florence, Jo Lynn Knight Mitchell (Don) of Collins, Lisa Knight Kiper of Wisner, Louisiana, Beth Beasley Knight of Seminary, Anthony Herrin of Hattiesburg, Gavin Herrin (Kelly) of Seminary, Steven Sanford, Jr. (Aimee) of Collins and Lee Sanford (Pamela) of Collins; sister, Cecil Trigg Thornton of Hattiesburg, twenty great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
