Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, June 21, 2024 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Marion Louise Shoemake, 85 of Seminary, who passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the Covington County Hospital in Collins.
Reverend David McGlocklin will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Lighthouse Cemetery in Ellisville. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 20, 2024, and from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, MS.
Pallbearers will be her sons, Dewayne Dunn, David Dunn, Eugene Dunn, and Jason Dunn.
Mrs. Shoemake was born on November 25, 1938 in Alabama to Gordon Blancett and Marion Odessa Poe Hanna. She retired from the healthcare industry after numerous years of service as a nurse's aide. Mrs. Shoemake was a member of the Pentecostal faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, and will be greatly missed by her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Blancett; her mother and step father, Marion Odessa Poe Hanna and Billy Hanna; one son, Gary Lynn Dunn; one daughter, Mary Ellen Dunn; three brothers, Gordon Howard Blancett, Walter "Buddy" Blancett, and Charles Dale "Chuck" Blancett; and one grandson, Zachary David Dunn.
Survivors include her four sons, Aubrey Dewayne Dunn (Barbara Ann) of Bridgeport,, Alabama, David Steve Dunn (Priscilla) and Ernest Eugene Dunn (Angel), all of Seminary, and Jason Dunn of Collins; three brothers, Jerry Blancett (Betty) of Laurel, Jimmy Blancett of Scottsboro, Alabama, and Ronnie Blancett of Arizona; two sisters, Brenda Schmidt (Ray) of California, and Sybil Blancett of Laurel; eight grandchildren, Amanda McGlocklin (David), Melissa Quin (Danny), Seth Van Alex Dunn, Kaitlyn Olivia Dunn, Katherine Diane Dunn, Jason Joe Dunn, Halie Michelle Dunn, and Allissa Diane Dunn; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
