Mark was born on July 31, 1962 in Collins, Mississippi to Ruby Joyce Walker Yates and the late, Elder Woodrow Hugh (Woody)Yates. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and son. Mark retired after many years of driving trucks and working in the poultry industry. He loved most anything outdoors. Mark enjoyed traveling in the mountains on his Harley Davidson motorcycle and riding cross country with his biker friends. After being disabled from work, and unable physically to ride his bike anymore to COPD and degeneration in his spine, he spent many daytime hours outside, and many night time hours talking on his CB radio to people all over the U.S. and even other countries. Mark enjoyed tinkering on computers and CB radios, and the many visits from his friends and family. He was a member of the Center Ridge Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elder Woodard Hugh (Woody)Yates.
Survivors include his wife of nine years, Dorothy Stacey Jones Yates of Collins; his mother and step father, Ruby Walker Yates Walters and Reverend Ken Walters; two sons, Marshall Hugh Yates, Jr. (Kathryn) of Petal, and Cody Dewayne Yates (Leta) of Mount Olive; two step sons, Joseph Gillian and Levi Gillian, both of Laurel; one brother, Frankie L. Yates (Claire) of Raceland, LA; one sister, Merry Katherine Hebert (Wayne) of Collins; five grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
