Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Union South Baptist Church in Seminary for Martha Kay Harrell Brooks, 68 of Seminary, who passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Reverend Glenn Shoemake and Dr. Barry Armstrong will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Union South Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Mary Anne Sanford. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Union South Baptist Church in Seminary.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Garrett McClure, Nate Brooks, Jonah Brooks, Justin McClure, Ryan Brooks, and Caleb Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Sumrall, Darrel Brooks, Bryan Harrell, Matthew Norton, and Mikey Barrett.
Mrs. Brooks was born on November 3, 1949 in McHenry, Kentucky. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Mrs. Brooks was a member of the Union South Baptist Church in Seminary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William R. Harrell and Lillian Gwendolyn Martin Sellers; two brothers, J.B. Harrell and WC "Junior" Kellum; and one sister, Barbara Loveless.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, Royce L. Brooks, Sr. of Seminary; two sons, Royce L. Brooks, Jr., and his wife, Angela of Sumrall and Steven Ray Brooks, and his wife, Lesli of Seminary; one daughter, Donya McClure, and her husband, Scott of Seminary; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Wanda Sumrall of Mendenhall, Janice Clinton of Hattiesburg, Ruby Oakes of Seminary, Dorothy Davis of Petal, and Becky Kellum of Seminary; four brothers, Billy G. Harrell, Ernie Lee Harrell, Charles Ray Harrell, and Steve Harrell, all of Seminary; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
