Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the Rock Hill Baptist Church in Mount Olive for Martha Jane McBeth Ponder, 83 of Mount Olive, who passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019 at her residence.

Reverend Nelson Crozier will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the Rock Hill Baptist Church in Mount Olive.

Pallbearers will be Philip Ponder, Ryan Himmel, Carl McBeth, Hugh McBeth, Kirk Jacobs, and Joel McBeth.

Mrs. Ponder was born on December 25, 1935 in Mount Olive, Mississippi. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  Mrs. Ponder, and her late husband, Jessie Rudolph Ponder, owned and operated the Ponder Dozier Services for over thirty years.  She retired in 1985 from Neco, Inc. after twenty five years of service.  Mrs. Ponder was a member of the Rock Hill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Hugh McBeth and Lillian Williamson McBeth; her husband, Jessie Rudolph Ponder; and five siblings, Thomas Edward McBeth, Elizabeth Jean "Betty" Newsome, James "Jimmy" McBeth, Andrew McBeth, and Myra McBeth.

Survivors include one son, Ricky Ponder, and his wife, Nancy of Mount Olive; one daughter, DeLane Ponder Butler, and her husband, Frankie of Prentiss; six grandchildren, Lindsey Himmel (Ryan), Philip Ponder (Felicia), Morgan Ponder, Kolby Butler, Camron Butler, and Doug Chambless (Renae); four great-grandchildren, Jase Himmel, Jackson Ponder, John Reed Himmel, and Nevaeh Chambless; one brother, Kenny McBeth, and his wife, Marsha of Collins, one sister, Myrl McBeth Graham, and her husband, Bobby Ray of Hattiesburg, a sister-in-law, Elowise McBeth of Mount Olive; and a host of nieces and nephews.
