Mary Neck Brown

(May 25, 1947 – December 3, 2022)

Services will be held at a later date for Mary Neck Brown, 75, of Hattiesburg, who passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at The Claiborne of Hattiesburg in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Brown was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 25, 1947. She grew up in Palatka, Florida, and later attended The University of Florida, where she met her future husband, Elliott. They later settled in Chattahoochee, Florida, where they both worked at the Florida State Hospital and Apalachee Correctional Institution. In 2020, they moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to be closer to their son, Elliott, and their granddaughter, Sophia.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Elliott Medric Brown, III; and her parents, Richard Archie and Myrtie Jenkins Neck.

Survivors include her sons, Elliott Brown of Collins, MS and Phillip Richard Brown (Annie McFarland) of Morgantown, WV; and a granddaughter, Sophia Brown.
