Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Collins for Mary Dell Kavitz, 86 of Brookhaven and formerly of Collins, who passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Trend Nursing and Rehab in Brookhaven.
Reverend Joseph Bird will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Collins City Cemetery. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Dianne Speed and Mr. Jay Baggett. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 am till 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Collins, 303 South 4th Street, Collins, Mississippi, 39428.
Pallbearers will be Randy Bartel, Todd Bartel, Blaine Frischhertz, Kenny Wilson, David Wilson, and Greg Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Ladies Outreach Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Kavitz was born on December 8,1937, to Lester and Josie Acy Robertson in Black Hawk, Mississippi. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Mrs. Kavitz retired from the Covington County Schools after many years of service as a secretary for Coach Jack Bailey. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Collins where she shared Bible study with the Ladies Outreach Sunday School Class. Mrs Kravitz loved playing cards, crafting, and board games with her family and friends, and all things University of Southern Mississippi sports.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Josie Acy Robertson; her husband, Bernard Kavitz; a stepdaughter, Jo Balandron; two brothers, Ferrell Robertson and Louis Robertson; two sisters, Mae Wilson and Nancy Lewis; two brothers-in-law, Leonard Wilson and Louie Bartel; and a sister-in-law, Kay Robertson.
Survivors include her son, Keith Kavitz, and his wife, Linda of Brookhaven; three grandchildren, Kelly Johnson, Marisa Frischhertz (Blaine), and Michael Kavitz; three great-grandchildren, Aidan Johnson, Sutton Frischhertz, and Evie Frischhertz; one sister, Peggy Bartel of Collins; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and special caretakers.
