Mary Grace was born on November 15, 1920 and grew up during the Great Depression years in the Calvary Community of Smith County, Mississippi. She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II hoping to "help the boys." Perhaps those two events were responsible for the strength and fortitude that characterized her life. After the war, she married and began a life as a faithful wife and mother supporting and caring for her loved ones in homes in Arkansas, Virginia, Alabama, and Picayune, Mississippi. Upon retirement, her husband and she moved to Mount Olive. She was a steadfast member and tireless worker in each of her church homes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton Braxton McNair and Lizzie Ezilla Carr McNair; her husband of sixty-four years, William Blois Herrington; one daughter, Mary Ellen Herrington; and one brother, George Carr McNair.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Herrington Kelley of Mount Olive, and Nancy Herrington Bagwell, and her husband, Robert W. Bagwell of Eupora; two grandchildren, Lauren Bagwell Dietz, and her husband, Joseph Matthew Dietz of Carrollton, Texas, and John Robert Bagwell, and his wife, Margarita Lopez Bagwell of Austin, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Braxton Matthew Dietz and William Pierce Dietz, both of Carrollton, Texas, and Cairo Cruz Bagwell, and Nash Noah Bagwell, both of Austin, Texas.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers and to benefit and support Mary Grace's beloved missionaries throughout the world, that memorials be made to The Great Commission Fund, Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 148, Mount Olive, Mississippi 39119.
