Merritta Donnette Burke
(January 4, 1970 – January 31, 2025)


A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on  Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Merritta Donnette Burke, 55 of Collins, who passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.


Reverend Wesley Kirkley will officiate at the services.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.


The family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, MS.


Mrs. Burke was born on January 4, 1970, in Pascagoula, Mississippi.  She received as Associate of Arts degree from Jones County Junior College in Medical Coding.  Mrs. Burke was employed by Mississippi Power as a secretary for several years before her retirement.  She was a member of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Burke was a loving daughter, mother, Mimi, and sister.  Her greatest accomplishment in life was becoming a grandmother (Mimi).  It totally changed her life and made her a better person.  Mrs. Burke enjoyed being outside when she could, babysitting, listening to music, and watching television.  She loved spending time with her family and friends, and will be greatly missed by them all.

Survivors include four children, Clifton Ray Burke of Collins, Barbara Lee Gray (Patrick) of Collins, Ashley Nicole Burke McKee (David) of Sumrall, and Phillip Nelson Burke, III (Shannon) of Laurel; a step-daughter, Caty Jo Martone of Collins; her father, Donald Gene Keenum, and his wife, Phyllis of Pascagoula; her mother, Florence Lee Cruse Keenum of Pascagoula; four brothers, Donald Keenum, Jr. (Laresa) of Ville Platte, Louisiana, Rob Worbington (Heather), Shane Worbington, and David Keenum, all  of Gautier; one sister, Robin Allen of Mount Olive; seven grandchildren, Jacob Gray, Kaleb Gray, Jasper McDonald, Alice McDonald, Stormie Burke, Gunner Burke, and Darcy Burke; and a host of nieces and nephews.
