Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Mickey R. Blackwell, 78 of Taylorsville, who passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at his residence.
Reverend Herbert Nettleton will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Barnes Cemetery in Taylorsville. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Julia Rae Dean and Mr. Russell Walters. Billy M, King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.
Pallbearers will be Joe Dees, Jeremy Phillips, Jeff Weber, Will Weber, Drew Caves, and Bob Taylor.
Mr. Blackwell was born on September 1, 1939 in Covington County, Mississippi. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Blackwell retired from Masonite, Inc. after thirty years of service. He was a member of the Calhoun Baptist Church in Hot Coffee. Mr. Blackwell proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Hiram Masonic Lodge, Post #349 in Taylorsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Hattie L. Sullivan Blackwell; and six brothers, Rudolph Blackwell, Randolph Blackwell, Lind Burg Blackwell, Bobby Blackwell, Carol Blackwell, and Jackie Blackwell.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Barbara Ann Graves Blackwell of Taylorsville; three daughters, Karen Blackwell of Taylorsville, Sue Dees, and her husband, Joe of Taylorsville, and Tammie Weber, and her husband, Jeff of Gulfport; one sister, Myrna L. Rice of Taylorsville; one sister-in-law, Joyce Blackwell of Taylorsville; four grandchildren, Courtlynn Moore, Whitney Phillips, and her husband, Jeremy, Will Weber, and Victoria Caves, and her husband, Drew; two great-grandchildren, Allie Moore and Joe Phillips; and a host of nieces and nephews.
