Nancy Christine Young McKee

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Bethel Baptist Church in Seminary for Nancy Christine Young McKee, 97 of Seminary, who passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and countless memories of a life marked by kindness, laughter, faith, and devotion to those around her.

Reverend Wayne Woolwine will officiate at the services with entombment in the Bethel Baptist Church Mausoleum in Seminary. Special music will be provided by Mr. Mark Young. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 553 Bethel Baptist Church, Seminary, Mississippi, 39479.

Her pallbearers will be John Knight, Dave McKee, Matthew Humphrey, Christopher McKee, Alex Knight, and Ryan Knight.

Christine (nicknamed “Kid”) was born on July 1, 1929, to W.E. and Hallie Rainey Young. She was a longtime member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith remained an important part of her life. She was also a faithful member of the Covington County Gideons Auxiliary. At the age of 21, Christine married the love of her life, Earnest Richard “Mack” McKee, Sr., who was serving in the United States Army. Their marriage began a lifelong adventure together. Because of Mack’s military service, they traveled extensively and made their homes in many different places, including spending 12 years living in Europe. Wherever life took them, Christine created a home filled with warmth, love, and laughter.

Those who knew Christine will remember her most for the remarkable kindness she showed throughout her life. She was the kind of person who never seemed to have a negative thing to say about anyone. She met people with a cheerful spirit, a ready smile, and an eagerness to share a good laugh. Her warmth made people feel welcome, and her gentle nature made her easy to love.

Christine’s life was not measured simply by the many years she lived or the many places she traveled, but by the love she gave so freely. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, relative, friend, and woman of faith. Her family will remember her laughter, her goodness, her optimism, and the way she made the people around her feel loved. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and many, many friends. She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edward Young and Hallie Rainey Young; her husband of sixty years, Earnest Richard McKee; two sisters, Jewel Young Ingram and Lillian Young Sanford; and three brothers, Thurman Young, Verb Young, and W.E. Young.

Survivors include three children, Earnest Richard “Rick” McKee of Bay St. Louis, Nancy Ann McKee of New Orleans, Louisiana, and David Wayne McKee, and his wife, Patsy of Seminary; six grandchildren, John Knight (Donna), Christy McKee Kellum (Derek), Jeana McKee Humphrey (Matthew), Dave McKee (Nikki), Samantha McKee Coles (Lavonte), and Chris McKee (Chrissy); and a multitude of great-grandchildren who were part of the family she treasured so dearly. Among those especially dear to Christine are Alford and Yvonne Kilgore of Moselle, who are not only family---Yvonne being Christine’s niece---but also among Christine and Mack’s closest and most cherished friends.
