Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home for Nina Joyce Walters Pope, 80 of Collins, who passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at her residence.
Reverend Ken Walters and Reverend Glenn Shoemake will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Pope Cemetery. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Happy Sullivan. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.
Pallbearers will be Paul Ingram, Andy Pipkin, Terry Eubanks, Nathan Conway, Hunter Jansen, and Joseph Jansen. Honorary pallbearers will be Destiny Jansen and Conner Jansen.
Mrs. Pope was born on April 8, 1937 in Covington County, Mississippi. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Pope retired after numerous years of service in the retail sales industry. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm W. Walters and Florence Collier Walters; her husband, Tommy Pope; her granddaughter, Tonya Lynn Jansen; six sisters, Mildred Sholar, Bertie May Keys, Armether Williamson, Essie Dee Houston, Rosalie Morrison, and Mondell Lott; and four brothers, Paul Walters, Heyward Walters, Wesley Walters, and Melvin Walters.
Survivors include one son, Woody Lyons and his wife, Ellen of Collins; one daughter, Tracy Lyons of Collins; three grandchildren, Joseph Jansen and his wife, Christina, Courtney Speed, and Connally Speed; five great-grandchildren, Nathan Conway, Hunter Jansen, Destiny Jansen, Conner Jansen, and Brie Carriere; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her dearly.
