Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Willow Grove Baptist Church for Olene McAndrews Rawls, 85 of Collins, who passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Asbury House in Hattiesburg.
Reverend Billy Purser will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Willow Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Mary Nell Sims and Miss Stevie Cain. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.
Pallbearers will be Edward Thomas Kennedy, Jr., Michael Glisson, Chris May, Alec May, Reggie Jones, and Todd Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy King, Tim Smith, and Sammy Rawls.
Mrs. Rawls was born on September 19, 1932 in Soso, Mississippi. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Rawls retired from Big Yank after forty-five years of service as a seamstress. She was a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Rawls; her parents, Thomas Daniel McAndrews and Candace Ellzey McAndrews; one daughter, Elwanda Rawls May; three brothers, Daniel Ray McAndrews, Nolan McAndrews and T.D. McAndrews; and one sister, Ouida McAndrews Abercrombie.
Survivors include her daughter, Yolanda Rawls Kennedy and her husband, Edward Thomas Kennedy, Sr. of Taylorsville; five grandchildren, Edward Thomas Kennedy, Jr. (Lori), Kimberly Kennedy Glisson (Michael), Brenda Evans Smith (Tim), Belinda Evans Speed (Larry McCarty), and Chris May (Jennifer); five great-grandchildren, Anna Kennedy, Emma Kennedy, Reggie Jones (Kim), Todd Jones, and Nicole Smith Prather (Anthony); five great-great grandchildren, Alec May, Bryce May, Alyse May, Mason Prather, and Weston Prather; two sisters, Evelyn McAndrews Akins of Madison and Odessa McAndrews Anderson of Houston, Texas; one brother, E.C. McAndrews of Natchez; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
