Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home for Ottis D. Wolverton, 83 of Collins, who passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Dr. Daryl Coats will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Calhoun Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Nelda Keys. Billy M, King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Wolverton, Daniel Wolverton, Randy Blakeney, Larry Blakeney, Ronnie Blackwell, and John Anglin. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Powell, Buddy Vineyard, and John Gatlin.
Mr. Wolverton was born on November 1, 1934 in Scott County, Mississippi. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Wolverton was the owner and operator of Wolverton Engineering, Inc. and a licensed land surveyor for over sixty years. He was a member and former deacon of the Calhoun Baptist Church. Mr. Wolverton was also a member of the Hiram Masonic Lodge #349 in Taylorsville, Mississippi, Collins Rotary Club, Covington County Chamber of Commerce, and the Mississippi Association of Professional Surveyors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Myrtle Haraldson Wolverton; his wife, Laverne Corley Wolverton; one brother, Otis Wolverton; and one sister, Margaret Morrison.
Survivors include one son, Buddy Wolverton of Collins; one daughter, Sherri L. Wolverton of Collins; one brother, Dr. Bill Wolverton of Picayune; three sisters, Irene Jenkins of Jackson, Ava King of Florence, and Virginia Copeland of Ochlocknee, Georgia; three grandchildren, Samuel Wolverton of Denham Springs, Louisiana, Leslie Wolverton of Durham, North Carolina, and Daniel Wolverton of Sumrall; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
