Palmer Franklin Byrd
(January 13, 1944 – June 9, 2024)

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the Sanford Missionary Baptist Church in Seminary for Palmer Franklin Byrd, 80 of Seminary, who passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at the Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS.

Reverend Wayne Woolwine and Reverend Joe Lott will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Bullock Cemetery in Seminary.  Special music will be provided by Greg Sullivan, Pam Eakes, and Bill Rogers.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the Sanford Missionary Baptist Church, 600 Old Hwy 49, Seminary, Mississippi.

Pallbearers will be Allen Byrd, Wayne Byrd, Trenton Crosby, John Woods, Elmo Sanford, and Brian Taormina. Honorary pallbearer will be Roy Phillips.

Palmer was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him, and he will be dearly missed. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on his trucks, riding to Geiger Farm and watching Nascar.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edmond Byrd;  mother, Mavis Mooney Byrd;  brothers, John Everett Byrd, Grissett Byrd, Jessie Byrd and Martin Byrd;  sisters, Hazel Lee Byrd Craft, Iona Byrd Moss;  grandson, Matthew Gill.

Survivors include his sons, Anthony Byrd (Jennifer) of Seminary and Thomas Byrd (Laura) of Petal;  daughters, Tanya Pendleton (Eric) of Seminary, MS and Melanie Friend (Robert) of Petal;  sisters, Shirley Byrd Beasley, Willene Byrd Sanford and Retha Mae Byrd Phillips;  grandsons, Ethan Friend, Eli Friend, Austin Pendleton (Sha) and Logan Pendleton;  granddaughters, Megan Sherman (Ross), Marley Walters (Tyler), Alyssa Byrd, Leah Byrd, Lauren Mauldin (Joseph) and Bre Pendleton, thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
