Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2020 at the Speed Family Cemetery in Seminary for Patrice Nell Mitchell, 90 of Provo, Utah, and formerly of Seminary, who passed on March 22, 2020 at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah.

Interment will follow in the Speed Family Cemetery with Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins in charge of the local arrangements.

Mrs. Mitchell was born on July 13, 1929 in Seminary, Mississippi to Floyd C. Page and Dagmar M. Speed Page.  She eloped with Charles N. Mitchell and they were married in Laurel, Mississippi on September 1, 1946.  After two crop failures her husband joined the United States Air Force and after his service with the Berlin airlift, she joined him in Vienna, Austria, which was then 110 miles inside the Soviet Zone.  The base where her husband worked was completely surrounded by the Russians.  With the Cold War heating up in 1951, she and their only son were sent home where Charles joined her as their daughter was born in Mississippi.  They were then stationed in Texas, Kansas, New York, Florida, California, and Germany (twice) before her husband retired in 1970.  She then went back to school and became a Registered Nurse and worked in California and Hattiesburg, Mississippi where she retired.  She enjoyed music, gardening, and genealogy before moving to Provo, Utah in 2018 where her son could provide assistance for doctor visits and other activities.  She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she and her husband were married for time and eternity in the Bern, Switzerland Temple in 1962.  Her husband passed away in 2016.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles N. Mitchell; her parents, Floyd C. and Dagmar M. Speed Page; a sister; and two brothers.  Mrs. Mitchell was very proud of her long life.

Survivors include her son, Patrick Neil Mitchell of Provo, Utah; her daughter, Marilyn Jan Jurgensen, and her husband, Jon Mark of Corona, California; five grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.

While her dying wish was to have a large funeral, the present pandemic is preventing that.  The family will have a small service on Thursday, March 26, 2020 in Draper, Utah followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday,. April 3, 2020 at the Speed Family Cemetery in Seminary, Mississippi.  After the Coronavirus emergency is over, the family plans for a celebration of her life that is more in line with her final wishes.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Utah Valley Hospital as well as the personnel at Cove Point Retirement Home for making her final days on the Earth as pleasant as possible.

Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and condolences at www. billymkingcolonialchapel .com as she will be missed . However, she is no doubt enjoying a wonderful reunion with the love of her life as well as her other family members and previously departed loved ones on the other side of our current reality.
