Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church for Paul Calvin Jent, 73 of Mount Olive, who passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at his residence.
Reverend Joe Gardner will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Hopewell Presbyterian Cemetery in Mount Olive. Special music will be provided by Mr. James Arrington Goff. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mount Olive will be in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church.
Pallbearers will be Roger Sullivan, Joe Warren, John Larry Sullivan, Lyle Hubbard, Norman Stevens, and Gregory Smith.
Mr. Jent was born on June 7, 1943 in Passaic, New Jersey. He was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a Master's degree in Social Work. Mr. Jent worked for Sollberger's – Curator of Exceptional Jewelry and Timepieces for many years early in his working career. He retired from the Mississippi State Hospital at Whitfield after numerous years of service as a social worker. Mr. Jent was a member of the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church where he served as church organist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Walter C. Jent and Ruth Van Riper Jent.
Survivors include four siblings, Ruth Ann Wilson, David Jent, Esther Hermann, and Martha Doby; a special friend, Susie Cook; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
