Peggy Vera Beasley Shoemake

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Peggy Vera Beasley Shoemake, 78 of Collins, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at her residence.

Reverend Dowl Griffin and Reverend Wayne Hebert will officiate at the services with a private family burial at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Susan Deen. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi, 39428.

Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews, Jason Beasley, Brian Beasley, Tommy Beasley, Chris McPhail, Mark McPhail, and Shannon McGregor.

Peggy was born on August 16, 1947, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to William Elwin Beasley and Gwendolyn Norris Beasley. She graduated from Seminary High School. Peggy retired from T.W. L. Department Store as a manager after numerous years of service. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Seminary. Peggy was a faithful pastor’s wife for fifty-nine years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Elwin Beasley and Gwendolyn Norris Beasley; her parents-in-law, L.V. “Bennett” Shoemake and Robbie Lou Lott Shoemake; one son, Stephen Shoemake; one brother, William Beasley; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Beasley, Gertie Beasley, and Rene’ Shoemake; and one nephew, Adam Ford.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years, Reverend Glenn Shoemake of Collins; one son, Robert Shoemake (April) of Collins; one daughter Lydia Shoemake of Collins; two brothers, Thomas Beasley and James Beasley, both of Seminary; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Beasley and Brenda Shoemake McPhail (Charles), all of Collins; three grandchildren, Peter Shoemake, Jotham Shoemake, and Andrew Shoemake; four great-grandchildren, Kayden Tolentino, Kylian Tolentino, Eli Rainey, and Malachi King; three nieces, Dorothy Bounds, Elizabeth Bennett, and Beth Knight; six nephews, Jason Beasley, Brian Beasley, Tommy Beasley, Chris McPhail, Mark McPhail, and Shannon McGregor; and a host of other family members and friends.
