Rachel McLendon Burrell, 82, of Collins, MS passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Covington County Nursing Center in Collins, MS. She was born Thursday, November 22, 1934 in Jackson, MS.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 16, 2016 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at New Chapel United Pentecostal Church in Collins. Funeral services will follow at the church at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in New Chapel Cemetery in Collins, MS. Billy M King Colonial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601)765-1010
Rachel was an exceptional wife and mother. She was a loving person who spent her life investing in her family and friends. She enjoyed serving people, often feeding large groups and ministering to those in her church and her community. She was a faithful pastor's wife to her husband, a faithful youth leader to the children and youth in her church and a faithful prayer warrior.
She is preceded in death by her parents, J.D. McLendon and Minnie Mae Roberson McLendon; her husband, Rev. Billy G. Burrell and her son-in-law, Pete Ross.
Survivors include her children, Deborah B. Ross, Florence, MS, Linda Boleware (Danny), Collins, MS, William D. "Bill" Burrell (Janet), Richland, MS, Daniel Burrell (Belinda), Collins, MS and John Stephen "Steve" Burrell (Amanda), Collins, MS; siblings, Jackie McLendon, Richland, MS, Marty McLendon (Sheila), Corinth, MS and Jerry McLendon, Florence, MS; grandchildren, Donovan Graves (Kim), Atlanta, GA, Rachelle Reed (Malcom), Herrnando, MS, Joseph Ross, Florence, MS, Danny Boleware Jr. (Jamie), Collins, MS, Joy Guillot (Mike), Richland, MS, Hope Musto (Matt), Byram, MS, Alex Burrell, Richland, MS, Allen Burrell (Kait), Columbia, MS, Coty Burrell (Lauren), Collins, MS, Laryn Davis, Collins, MS, Dalton Burrell, Collins, MS and 9 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Allen Burrell, Coty Burrell, Dalton Burrell, Alex Burrell, Danny Boleware, Jr., Donavon Graves and Joseph Ross.
