Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Rachel McGowen, 87 of Collins, who passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS.
Reverend Brooks Porter and Reverend Richard Green will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Collins City Cemetery in Collins. Music will be provided by Janelle White as pianist and Hannah Harvey singing. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Hwy 49, Collins, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Austin Stanford, Darrell "Perk" Perkins, Stevie Sanford, Brandon Rowell, Larry Bullock, and Bronson Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Martin Harvey, Paul Rogers, Noel Rogers, Ray Hughes, Boots Hughes, Charles Langford, Rusty Harper, and Dr. Jeff Rogers.
Rachel was born in Collins, Mississippi to Mid and Lorena Daughtrey. She grew up in the Cold Springs community. She was married to Bobby John McGowen on September 5, 1970. They enjoyed fifty-three years of marriage together. They had two daughters Ann Allee and Laura Rowell (Kevin) and two grandchildren Ashley Allee and Brandon Rowell.
She retired in 1995 from the Internal Revenue Service after thirty-five years of service. Rachel was a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for a number of years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mid and Lorena Graham Daughtrey. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jean Daughtrey Harvey(Emmett) and nephew Lantz Harvey.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby John McGowen of Collins, MS; daughters, Ann McGowen Allee of Petal and Laura McGowen Rowell (Kevin) of Starkville; sisters, ML Daughtrey of Collins and Annie Kay Daughtrey Rogers (W.G.) of Collins; granddaughter, Ashley Allee of Petal, and grandson Brandon Rowell of Starkville, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mt. Horeb Baptist Church of Collins, Mississippi.
