Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Randa Ray Mayfield, 78 of Collins, who passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022, at her residence.
Reverend Curt Jordan and Reverend Joseph Bird will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Collins City Cemetery in Collins. Special music will be provided by Miss Elizabeth Gibson and Mr. Michael Gibson. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3302 Highway 49, Collins, MS 39428.
Pallbearers will be Gwen Magee, David Shoemake, Bob Faler, Henry Leonard, Chris Leonard, Michael Gibson, and Michael Jordan.
Mrs. Mayfield was born on July 24, 1943, in Collins, Mississippi to Randolph Kelly Ray Sr., and Louise Thaxton Ray. She graduated from Collins High School in 1961 and the University of Southern Mississippi in 1965 with a bachelor's degree in English and Spanish. Mrs. Mayfield retired from the Covington County School District after twenty-plus years of service as a high school English and Spanish teacher. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Collins.
Mrs. Mayfield was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Randolph Kelly Ray Sr., and Louise Thaxton Ray Pritchett; her stepfather, Bob Pritchett; and her brother, Randolph Kelly Ray Jr.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-six years, Lynn Mayfield of Collins; two daughters, Gina Mayfield Gibson, and her husband, Michael of Madison, and Ina Mayfield Jordan, and her husband, Michael of Brandon; one son, Kyle Mayfield of Collins; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Gibson, Davis Gibson, Joel Gibson, Curt Jordan, and his wife, Brooke, Cole Jordan, and Camille Jordan; one great-grandson, Bear Brooks Jordan; one sister, Suzy Ray Thrash, and her husband, Junior of Seminary; a sister-in-law, Bronna Ray of Collins; an aunt, Mary Lynn Kervin of Collins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
