Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Retired Lt. Colonel Curtis Doyle McRaney, 89 of Collins, who passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Reverend Dennis Lewellyn and Reverend Danny Forrest will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Lone Star Cemetery in Collins with military rites at graveside. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3202 Highway 49, Collins, Mississippi, 39428.
Pallbearers will be Sean McRaney, Christopher McRaney, Joel McRaney, Marlon McRaney, Lamar McRaney, and Ray Coulter.
Mr. McRaney was born on December 1, 1935, in Collins, Mississippi, to Larew and Mary Jane Powell McRaney. He retired as a Lt. Colonel from the United States Marines Corp. after twenty-plus years of service. Mr. McRaney received numerous medals and commendations during his military career. He was a member of the Lone Star Methodist Church. Mr. McRaney was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Larew and Mary Jane Powell McRaney; and one son, Terry Lynn McRaney.
Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Renette Coulter McRaney of Collins; one son, Curtis Craig McRaney, and his wife, Tamela of Vicksburg; one sister, Elizabeth Jane McRaney Flowers, and her husband, Bob of Ridgeland; two grandsons, Sean Patrick McRaney, and his wife, Dana of Sumrall, and Christopher Craig McRaney, and his wife, Hannah of Brandon; five great-grandchildren, Lydia, Liam, Laney, Cohen, and Ellis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
