Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home for Robert Glen Herrin, 76 of Collins, who passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Magee General Hospital in Magee.
Brother Reese Douglas and Brother Everett Broome will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Blakely Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Jennifer Herrin Crosby, Brother Reese Douglas, Mr. Jerry Williamson, and Mr. Horton Sanders. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 and from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.
Pallbearers will be David Herrin, Darron Herrin, Buster Bush, Matthew Burnham, Tyler Bass, Eric Kilpatrick, and Ethan Arie. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Herrin, Dawson Bush, Dustin Bush, and the men of Blakely Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Herrin was born on March 31, 1941 in Natchez, Mississippi. He was a graduate of the Collins High School Class of 1959. Mr. Herrin retired from Yellow Freight Lines Transportation in 2006 after twenty years of service as a truck driver. He also was a chicken grower for Sanderson Farms, Inc. for twenty-one years and a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Herrin was a member of the Blakely Creek Baptist Church, and enjoyed reading the Bible on his computer. He loved the Lord and his family, especially his great-grandchildren. One of his favorite pastimes was going to the Stockyard every Monday with his brother-in-law, Rex Burnham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buster Van Herrin and Malissa McQueen Herrin.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Frances Burnham Herrin of Collins; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Tammie Herrin, and Kyle and Renee Herrin, all of Collins; four grandchildren, Kayla Arie (Ethan), Shelly Herrin, Kelsie Kilpatrick (Eric), and Kassidy Bass (Tyler); five great-grandchildren, Payton Arie, Gracie Arie, Brentlie Bass, Ainsley Bass, and Kaylie Kilpatrick; three brothers, Charles Herrin (Sonia) of Purvis, James Herrin (Virginia), and Sherrell Herrin (Donnis), all of Collins; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
