Mr. Tom accomplished a lot in his life. He was a husband, father, grandfather, poppy, and chief to many. His heart was always full of love. A lifelong devoted firefighter, he spent 58 years as a firefighter and 32 as Fire Chief at the Sanford Fire Department, which he "started from scratch", as he says. He was hard headed to say the least; he never went down without a fight. Mr. Tom has left an impact on so many people. There isn't enough room on paper to explain the love he shared with all who knew him.
Pallbearers will be Justin Burrow, Jamey Leger, James Leger, Joseph Leger, Matt Miller, and Dean Estes.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Sanford Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Marsh; and his parents, Robert and Margaret Marsh.
Thomas is survived by his two daughters, Melissa Leger (James) of Gonzalez, Louisiana and Elizabeth Jordan (Marty) of Seminary, Mississippi; two sisters, Virginia White (Jay) and Margaret Blankenship (Gary); one brother, Pete Kelly (Ann); six grandchildren, James Leger (Maggie), Thomas Leger, Aurora Fabre (Joey), Cassy Jordan (Jennifer), Patricia Jordan, and Gabrielle Burrow (Justin); fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Sanford Fire Department at 583 Fairchild Landing Road, Seminary, Mississippi, 39479, or Gideons International at www.gideons.org/donate.
