Roy Lee Dickerson, Jr.

(November 11, 1947 – April 23, 2021)

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the New Liberty Landmark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Mount Olive for Roy Lee Dickerson, Jr., 73 of Sumrall, who passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at the Rush Speciality Hospital in Meridian.

Dr. Barry Armstrong will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the New Liberty Landmark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Mount Olive.  Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 pm. on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the New Liberty Landmark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 575 SCR 152, Mount Olive, MS 39119.

Pallbearers will be Oliver Brooks, Jason Barrett, Stacey Barrett, Cody Spillman, Jeremy Barrett, and Darrel Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Newsom, Brandon Brooks, Cole Brooks, and Steven Penney.

Mr. Dickerson was born on November 11, 1947 in Smith County, Mississippi on Roy Lee Dickerson Sr. and Allie Marie Brooks.  He was a loving fiancée, father, grandfather, and brother.  Mr. Dickerson was an over-the-road truck driver by trade.  He was a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee Dickerson Sr. and Allie Marie Brooks; and one brother, Charles Brooks.

Survivors include his fiancé' Cynthia Spillman of Sumrall; three children, Roy Lee Dickerson III of Jackson, Sondra Penney (Steven) of Laurel, and Marcie Davis (Timothy) of Collins; two brothers, Oliver Brooks (Mary) of Moselle and Homer Brooks of Seminary; one sister, Sharon Barrett of Seminary; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
