Roy Durward Rushton

(December 3, 1939 – April 23, 2023)

Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the Eminence United Methodist Church Cemetery in Seminary for Roy Durward Rushton, 83, of Seminary, who passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at his home.

Reverend Glenn Shoemake officiated the services, and interment was in the Eminence United Methodist Church Cemetery. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Durward was born December 3, 1939, in Ellisville, Mississippi, to Roy and Rachel Rushton. He earned a master's degree from The University of Southern Mississippi and worked for many years as a grammar school principal in Hattiesburg. He was a loving husband and friend, and he will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Rachel Plowman Rushton; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Gwendolyn Rogers Rushton of Seminary; and many extended family members and friends.
