Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Russell Edward Lee, 87 of Collins, who passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the Columbia Rehab and Health Care in Columbia.
Reverend Rocky Holston and Reverend Hal Hatten will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Willow Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins with military rites at graveside. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
Mr. Lee was born on June 5, 1933 in Collins, Mississippi to William Alonzo Lee and Ada Frances Rawls Lee. He graduated from Collins High School Class of 1953 then went on to Jones County Junior College to earn an Associates of Arts degree. Mr. Lee was a veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Army. After his tour of duty, he returned to the University of Southern Mississippi to earn a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. He retired from the Mississippi School for the Deaf and Mute after twenty years of service as a teacher. Mr. Lee was a member of the Willow Grove Baptist Church. He was an avid artist and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Adams Lee; his son, Dana Edward Lee; his parents, William Alonzo Lee and Ada Frances Rawls Lee; and three sisters, Fairl Gandy, Lavaun Jones, and Eleanor Jane Lee.
Survivors include two nephews, Doyle Gandy of Collins and Paul Gandy of Purvis; three nieces, Wanda Sheppard of Debary, Florida, Emily Haggard of Spanish Fort, Alabama, and Terri Varndell of Cocoa Beach, Florida; and a host of great nieces, and great nephews.
