Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Samuel Arnold Mooney, 86, of Seminary who passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins.
Reverend Carrie Mayo, Reverend Dwayne Mayo, Reverend Kenneth Stringer, Mr. Ty Hitt, and Mr. Davis Winstead will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Kelly-Napier Cemetery in Seminary with military rites at graveside. Special music will be provided by Gwen Keys Hitt and Aaron Rials. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Bob Murin, Roland Dossett, Tommy Wayne Crosby, David Aultman, Philip Creel, and Tim Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace Allred and David Shoemake.
Mr. Mooney, a Covington County native, retired after thirty five years of service as the owner and operator of Mooney Real Estate and Shelter Insurance Company in Collins. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Mooney was a member of the Seminary United Methodist Church and the Mississippi Realtors Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Bessie Kirkley Mooney; one son, Clark Mooney; one sister, Edith Mooney Ray; and one brother, Allison Mooney.
Survivors include his wife of forty four years, Kelly Davis Mooney of Seminary; two daughters, Gail Mooney Eubanks of Seminary, and Lou Ann Mooney Alexander of Wiggins; one brother, James Mooney (Rose Mary) of Prentiss; three sisters, Edna Mooney Niles of Jamestown, New York, Lena Mary Mooney Stringer (Kenneth) of Collins, and Joyce Mooney Speed of Birmingham, Alabama; four grandchildren, Obie Casteel, Kathryn Jones, Patrick Mooney, and Jerrica Alexander; three great-grandchildren, Frankie Casteel, Pierce Casteel, and Clark Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
