Shirley Bourgoyne Dawson

(December 15, 1937 – February 21, 2023)

Memorial services will be held at a 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Seminary Baptist Church for Shirley Bourgoyne Dawson, 85, of Collins, Mississippi, who passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements.

Ms. Shirley was born in Greenville, Mississippi, on December 15, 1937, to Fred and Audrey Mae Harris. A proud former Miss Morganza, she loved to travel, never met a stranger, and always liked to make people smile. She was a faithful and loving member of Seminary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Arnold Bourgoyne, Ricky Glass, and Edward Dawson; father, Fred Harris; mother, Audrey Mae Sweet Harris; two grandsons, Dustin Bergeron and Tanner Bergeron; brothers, Fred and Robert Harris; and a sister, Dorothy Clark.

Survivors include her son, Jere Bourgoyne (Hazel) of Collins, Mississippi; daughter, Shari Bergeron Weems of Port Allen, Louisiana; brother, Jerry Harris (Janice) of Watson, Louisiana; grandchildren, Brant Bergeron (Rebecca), Dalton Bourgoyne (Kayla), Annie Bourgoyne, Emily Bourgoyne Hayes (Blake), Braydon Bergeron, Hailey Weems; 9 great-grandchildren; a special lifelong friend, Vee Lemoine of Moreaville, Louisiana; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
